How to get your own art into museums/galleries?

Ok well anyways Im a pretty good artist i guess but no one knows about me.





I was wondering if it would be ok to send off painting through the mail to be donated to various museums throughout the country and see if they could put them into thier collections. do artists ever do this or do they do it any other ways? i was just wondering if this would be a good way to get the word out about my art. thanks.How to get your own art into museums/galleries?
Galleries...make contacts by ';being there'; and just walking in the door with a canvas under your arm.


Museums...I think you have to be ahead of your time in your sense of artistic expression and then die first.How to get your own art into museums/galleries?
