How many people have been through pet scams?

My wife and I had found on the internet an ad on deal's.com in regards to a pom puppy. It turned out to be a scam with a travelling agent from the city of Cameroon . They had asked me to wire $180.00 through western union to Cameroon before they would deliver the puppy .The same ad was also changed to a different city daily in the listing ..Buyers beware of this when dealing with online puppy sales....How many people have been through pet scams?
most online puppy scams have todo with puppy mills. They take great photos of the puppies but you dont see the truth. Never buy a puppy from another state/country without visiting the facility. Best of luck finding a puppy, oh by the way do not buy from a pet store, 99 percent of there puppies are from puppy mills and you think your helping them by buying them but your really just opeing up a cage and giving the puppy mill breeders more reason to breed. Also purchase from a reputable breeder, not a backyard breeder. How many people have been through pet scams?
You really have to be carefull. My friend adopted a german shepherd that they said was only 8 months old. Turned out the dog was just on the small side and she was really old. They only had her a year and a half before she died of old age naturally. Kijiji is the site I've found most reliable, but it's still risky. Just be sure you get all the right papers, go see THEM don't let them come to YOU, and ask to see the puppy's parents if possible.
There are hundreds of these online and email scams. The rule is that if anyone asks you to wire them money the answer should always be NO. The most common one in an email version are the ';You've just won the lottery in....(insert country name). But you have to send them money to get your money. SCAM. The other common one is ';I'm stranded in (insert country) and I need help to get home'; I actually got one of these and the name it was supposedly sent from was someone I knew about 8 years ago. But the spelling and grammar was so bad I knew it wasn't her. Again SCAM.

And when you are looking for a pet you should always stay local. You need to be able to see the animal up close and personal before you accept it. You should consider contacting a breed rescue group. Adopt one that needs a good home. And unless you are only interested in a pom you should check your locale Humane Society. They have a lot of very good dogs available for adoption. This is the best type of reccycling - give an animal in need a home.
