IPod touch won't connect to games?

Ok so my father installed a new modem. My iPod touch can connect with safari and the app store, but my games won't. My two online games, both using different networks for matchmaking, won't connect, so I doubt it's their networks' fault unless it was a coincidence. I was told that a firewall was set up for this new modem, something the old one was missing, so I guess that's the reason. Any ideas on how to get my my iPod touch to break through the firewall without disabling it?
