Is it ok to quit through an email?

So I've been employed with two different company for awhile now. One is my stable job, the other is just that extra money through rough time which is the one I want to quit.

Now that job is a security job. My boss usually communicate through email. He sends shift our way, and if we can take them, we reply back. So seeing how this is, I thought I might send him a letter through email stating I quit. Do you think it's ok to do that? I've only work there for 6 months, and haven't accepted a shift for nearly 4 months. Now I don't need this other job anymore.

So is it ok to quit through an email if you communicate with your boss through email?

Thanks for your time.Is it ok to quit through an email?
WOULD NOT recommend it. even thou you maily talk via email it is always better to talk in person. reason for it, in the future it makes you look a little better cus you talk in person it makes you look more professional. if it was because of something with the job a lot of the times you could tell with your boss if he cares or he may be able to do something to fix it...i was going to quit a job once, told the boss y and he ended up sitting down talking with me and we had worked out the problems. also if you were to quit via email your boss could someone possible bit you in the butt down the road ( donno how but its possible. Is it ok to quit through an email?
No, I do not consider it a proper way to tell them you are going to quit. Giving them a two week notice is the proper standard way to notify an employer that you plan on leaving your job. Plus, you go in personally, turn in your letter and talk to your boss face to face. That way, you give them the opportunity to offer you a better position or perhaps even a raise, to keep you from leaving. Or at least the opportunity to talk over any concerns they might have. Do it right, and do not risk having anything negative go on your work record.
You haven't worked there for 4 months? If so, yeah an email is OK.
no i dont think so.... you should just call and explain to him
No, don't be a wimp.
