What all is included in schooling to become a sonographer? And How much is the pay?-job description :)?

I was wondering what all is included in the schooling to become an ultrasound tech or a sonographer or whatever you want to call it... What are the courses and topics and also I was wondering about the pay and how long it takes to get through school.

ANOTHER question... for anyone that has this as a career.... (job description) how has it worked for you. How does it make you feel (stressed, happy, peaceful, tired, overworked, and so on......)What all is included in schooling to become a sonographer? And How much is the pay?-job description :)?
A good sonography school must have a good reputation and is CAAHEP accredited. It must be 2 years with almost 2000 clinical hours in a hospital setting with real patients and lab hours scanning your classmates or family members do not count as one of them. The courses of ultrasound ranged from physics, pathology, sonography procedures from general to vascular, and patient care. Any private school will not give you that much hours and they will give half of that, and believe me that's not what you want in order to become a competent sonographer. One of my closest friends is a sonographer with 30+ yrs experience, and she loves it. Is she stressful, overworked, and etc? Yes but she knows what she's worth and she's worth every penny and more because of the knowledge she has and the competency she has. You may not diagnose but the radiologist highly depends on the images of the sonographer to diagnose a patient. How much is the pay? It could range from 50k-80k. Ultrasound is the hardest modality to learn and master in the radiology field and any school with subpar education is not good enough, and it's recommended not to go to.What all is included in schooling to become a sonographer? Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs are usually 2 year Associate's degrees at technical colleges. The courses will include Sonographic Appearance of Normal Anatomy, Cross-Sectional Anatomy, Ultrasound Physics, Abdomen Sonography (includes pathology), Pelvic Sono (incl pathology), Small Parts/Hi Res Sono, OB normal Sono, OB Abnormal Sono, etc. etc.

Plus you have lab time at school and clinical days outside of school each week. You should know that even though you want to work in ob, it's only a small part of what you will learn in school and have to become proficient in - we scan pretty much everything.

They make on average $63k/yr, but it can vary based on experience and additional specializations.

I'm currently a student, but when I talk to people in the field they really love their job. It's rewarding and challenging. Yes, it is stressful, but not as stressful as other medical professions like nursing.
