So how does one get into heaven? Is it all about accepting jesus christ or is it about doing good deeds?

I was also curious if God gives out progess reports mid way through one's life to see how much more they need to do in order to get into heaven. So how does one get into heaven? Is it all about accepting jesus christ or is it about doing good deeds?

It's through Jesus. The ';good deeds'; is Christ being shown through us. They don't save us but if a christian isn't showing sacrificial love, I question how much they really want to be like Christ.
It's about doing good deeds. It has nothing to do with Jesus.
Believe that you have sinned and need repentance. Believe that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on earth for your sins and rose from the dead to fulfill prophecy. If Jesus didn't rise from the dead, everything He did couldn't be credible. If you believe you need to repent and need Jesus, you will be saved.

Check out the Bible:

John 3:16

Acts 16:31

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that He rose from the dead, you will be saved.
It's both. If you accept God then you will naturally act out that faith by doing good deeds. Good deeds without faith are worthless. Faith without good deeds is empty. However, it starts by trusting in God and walking in His way.

It would be nice if we had a sin-o-meter that would flash red when we were heading to Hell or green when we were on our way to Heaven, but all we have is a well-informed conscience.
The Bible is contradictory on this:

Salvation is by faith alone.

Mark 16:16

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

John 3:18, 36

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already .... He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Acts 16:30-31

Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God salvation to every one that believeth.... As it is written, The just shall live by faith.

By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight.

A man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Salvation is not by faith alone.

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.

Matthew 25:41-46

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Luke 10:26-28

He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Who will render to each one according to his deeds. ... For not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the jugment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

';Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.';

James 2:14

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

James 2:17

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James 2:21-25

Was not Abraham our father justified by works? You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rabab the harlot also justified by works? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

1 Peter 1:17

The Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work.

Revelation 2:23

I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Revelation 20:12-13

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Revelation 22:14

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life.
Very few people get to heaven, very, very few. But don't worry, none, go to hell, hell is an invention of man to scare others. What sort of loving God would God be if he condemned people to torture for eternity. God IS Love.
accepting Jesus Christ is only the first step of the ladder onwards to heaven.

there are many higher steps to take ..

live by the Law.

the Law defines sin.

and good deeds too.
This is a good explanation of what the Bible teaches:鈥?/a>
I hope you're not making fun and actually want an answer. It isn't about good deeds, anybody can do good deeds without being good people. It's about accepting Jesus as your savior and letting yourself become engulfed in a relationship with h\Him.
It's about accepting Jesus Christ into your life and following God. When you become a Christian, God helps you evolve so you feel more like doing good deeds. Know that God can help you live a better life. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end -- time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God's blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can't explain the world's natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner's prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: ';Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus' name, amen.'; I'm Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could check out a Christian church youth group or Bible study group to learn about God's will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life and have a Christian church pray for you.
